October 27. 2017, Annual Italian Composers Concert

St. George's Episcopal Church  905 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg Friday, October 27 Doors open at 6:30 pm; Performance begins at 7:00

Like last year's successful first Italian Composers Series Concert, this presentation will showcase a beautiful variety of classical and modern Italian musical selections, along with well-known American favorites. Such a program furthers one of Fredericksburg-Este Association's goals: promoting cultural and artistic exchanges and understanding between the two sister nations.

The event is FREE and open to the public; Donations gladly accepted.

The Mid-Atlantic Wind Symphony (MAWS) is an invitational wind orchestra comprised of professional musicians from the Mid-Atlantic region volunteering their time to promote wind band literature. MAWS is dedicated to the promotion of the finest classical band music through the performance of compositions by modern composers while respecting the rich heritage of the American Wind Ensemble as established by John Philip Sousa and his contemporaries.

Italian Composers Concert Series

On October 27, Aaron Noë, director of the Mid-Atlantic Wind Symphony, led our audience at St. George’s through an array of Italian composers whose music was adapted to the Wind Symphony presentation.   La Vita e` un Viaggio, Life is a Journey, was the perfect theme for this annual concert, as the evening’s performance was dedicated to the memory of Bill Carter, an active and enthusiastic member, who died unexpectedly this fall. This free concert series attracts an ever-growing audience. Thank you to Rene Rodriguez for his direction in bringing this popular program to our community.
